IMPORT wav file into MRS track?

I am wondering about wav audio IMPORT features of new porta-studio multitrackers. I'm looking in the 8 tracks price range. I currently use an older Fostex portable mutlitracker as well as a computer DAW. I want to find a portable that can import a track that was made on from my computer DAW. I know all portables with a USB can export files onto a computer. I'm talking going the other way. I know that I can drag the wav file off the computer hard drive to the potable memory card, but... that does not mean the portable will play that file or let me use it as a track. So does anyone know of any portable multitrackers that will import existing audio.

The Zoom MRS-8, HD-8 or R8 , Boss BR80 and Tascam DP-008EX can import a wave file. The MRS-8 and HD-8 are obsolete but available as used equipment while the R8, BR80 and DP-008EX are current products. Each has a little different way of recognizing imported wave files. You can download the operation manuals of each unit to compare which import method works best in your case.

Great info. Thanks for that. Really narrows down what I need to shop for, as only 2 on that list also do 24 bit recording according to their specs. The Zoom R8 and Boss BR80.

And the Boss BR80 only has one 1/4" input jack and no XLR. The Zoom R8 has two 1/4" inputs and 2 XLR.

I guess Zoom R8 wins that

I look forward to hearing the music you make with the Zoom R8. Post a link, okay?

The Zoom R8 also has a USB port so you can swap files between the R8 and a computer without removing the SD card from the R8.
