So, I was thinking of using my spare 1044CD as a "master recorder", recording the final versions of the tracks I complete in the MRS-1608. So I formatted the hard drive to get cracking, but now I get a SYSFILE ERROR when turning on the machine (and can't move past that point.) Not sure what to do.

I do have a data CD with the factory disc files on it, but I would have to properly burn the disc with just those files. Am I going to be able to return the machine to working order with just a burned factory disc? The UIB-01 is in my MRS-1608 at the moment.

Thanks, - J

Yes the hard drive maintains the system files on the MRS-1044CD.

The factory CD should be a bootable CD with the system files. Page 150 of the operator manual details the step-by-step procedure. If you don't have it, the manual is available at the Zoom North America website. Also note the firmware available for download is V2.10.

The manual "hints" you can perform recovery using the UB-01 (USB) interface but I didn't find any step-by-step details since the manual was published prior to release of the interface board. ... #downloads
