HMHS 212 - 0-60 in 35 Minutes - The RPM Show (3/31/11)

-------------------

This week Tony Butterworth and Dave Criddle narcissistically play their own songs. 7 tunes out of last months 20 created for the RPM Challenge http://www.rpmchallenge.com. Even more confusingly this is one without them being in the same "studio" since they can no longer bare to be in each others presence. Give it a list and you'll understand.

To find more.

I pretty much followed you guys while you were in the midst of the RPM Challenge, so I won't comment on each song. Signing off. Will give show listen.

That was a great show! You guys did so much better than I did on NaSoAlMo; I am actually going to shovel out my messy studio and start recording again. More detailed commentary coming up later tonight.

I'll skip comments on songs since I've already done that on the RPM threads.
Cool show, like the format, interesting to hear them side by side like that.
Since I followed the threads, I kept waiting to also hear cracks' songs even though I knew he wasn't part of the show.

POCKET POD! w00t! sweet!
I tend to feel the same way, Dave.

good show, thanks!

Thanks for the comments guys. Yes, I think most of the regulars have already said their peace about these tunes. Tony and I were beginning to wonder if there was a revolt against our blatant self promotion. 8) New show coming Friday April 15th... we promise.

And yes, the Pocket Pod rocks. It just has an awesome bite to the sound somehow.

I read somewhere that Pocket Pod was the same as the FloorPOD without the pedal and the switches, so I've been looking for a good deal on one to check that out.
one caveat though, Line 6 states there's no way to backup your custom sounds and it seems to be lacking a USB connection, so no way to customize sounds except trough the FloorPOD itself.
I'm wondering if it could replace using an amp in a small club, that would pretty cool in itself. :)

Thanks for a good show. Didn't take any notes while listening so I'm not giving any more detailed comments this time.

However you mentioned ChordBot recently. Downloaded it and it has already helped me to find interesting alternative chords.

Sorry for the late reply, but Lucas - The Pocket Pod DOES have a USB connection and you can edit the programs with a computer. However, it isn't too bad using the knobs on the unit. They actually made it very easy to work with, imo. I made a number of my own models. I don't bother backing them up though. If I lose them, I lose them.... I will just make more.

yes, I was aware of that, I was saying that the FloorPOD does not have USB etc. but supposedly has the same guts as the Pocket POD.
If that's true, then the FloorPOD would work for me since I really like a lot of the stock presets and any tweaking would probably be minimal and easily replicated if needed.
plus, it has built in foot pedal as well as FX and patch switches to enable 'on the fly' changing of presets etc. unlike the Pocket POD.
I actually bought 2 used Pocket PODs for $75.00 and an A/B switch to be able to change from one patch to another quickly.

Ha, that sounds like quite a rig. Sounds like a Floor Pod might be just the ticket for you. I am also very fond of my Boss ME 50, though it has a short in the power supply currently.

Thoes are pretty cool.
I had Boss BE 5M many years ago that had a the best delay built into it.

Enjoyed the show (I only just got around to listening to it, as my work has changed and I cant listen to those podcasts like I used to!)

Dressed in black is still my favourite song. As I was listening to the last of your songs Tony I was thinking "He gets those backing vocals sounding good" - It was a surprised when you then said "anyone have any suggestions about backing vocals?"

Dave - I wonder if your 1977 idea worked because it allowed you to get out of the "present" and think about things far away from your own life?

Interesting none the less - maybe I will try it next year...

Then you have life's priorities in the wrong order and an adjustment is required.

HI
Some very impressive songs.

Liked Dressed in Black - didn't we try to work on something like that a good while back Tony but nothing came of it?

Thanks for the name check.
