Recommend me songs for the Home Made Hit Show

Post by tonyoci » Mon Dec 05, 2005 3:00 pm

As Suggested by AndrewB I'm trying to identify some older songs (pre 2005) that I have never heard.

Could you oldtimers point me to some old songs, particulary upbeat one's. The idea is not to recommend your own songs :D only those of others.

Thanks

Tony

I'm not sure about that "Oldtimer" thing....

anyway, two of my favorites:

RC (aka the great one as Stor would put it) covering Alex's Why today:
http://www.2090.org/zoom/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=2177

The link for the song has changed though:

http://members.aol.com/crackie1111/rctorture.htm

And xbox4ever (is he still around???):

http://www.2090.org/zoom/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=2385

hip hop beat + ukulele, fascinating combination.

OK, I PMd RC and Alex, it would be really interesting to play the original song also.

I might be dumb but the xboxforever song doesn't seem to have a link.

EDITL OK I see the link now

meuki beat me to it posted 2 songs I still listen to on the Ipod. There must be more I'll put my thinking gap on. The YBMH (You've broken my heart) is a song that you have in your head at 3am going round and round when you can't sleep. Great stuff though.

I keep going on about Zoetropes Nine lives...but heck what a cracking song it is.

Nearly forgot Stor... Albert has loads of really original tunes. My favs are It's a secret, Existential Whining (What's the Big Deal), and love was simple. Follow the link in any of his numerous posts.

I have no response from any of the people recommended so far.

Nine Lives is planned for this week or next.

Meuki is planned in the next couple of weeks.

Store, is a jingle writer not a songsmith :D

I really want to play the RC song but can't rouse him through email or PM.

Tony,

Do you mean that the regulars aren't sending you their songs?

If so, perhaps they're feeling modest - and nervous of rejection! Maybe it's just me, but for some reason this feels different to Zoomiliation.

I've recieved only a couple of songs from people here but I really don't need you guys to send them, I listen back to find one's to play.

What I'm looking for is recommended old songs, some were recommended above but the people who made the songs are not responding to my requests to play them.

Got another one for you Tony,

This one popped up on my walkman this morning, one of the most beautiful pop song I heard from this forum:

Surfer Girl

http://www.2090.org/zoom/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=2346

The soundclick link is outdated though, it's:

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemus ... dID=227552

I think Stor has the guy's e-mail or something.

One of my all time favorites (from a non-Zoomer) is Butterfly by a guy who posts on many music forums as Eeldip: http://www.mypalgodrecords.com/sounds/butterfly.mp3

Do a search on Eeldip and he pops up. You can probably contact him through that website too.

As for Zoomers, take a look at the Zoomilation CD, there's plenty of gold to mine there.

Surfer Girls is a great song even though it fails my two personal biases, nasty Zoom drums that are panned (the two evils  )

I've emailed him from Soundclick.

The Butterfly song is REALLY good also.

It takes a lot to rouse me these days - life has been kicking my ass of late. No recording time, either, but I've got a killer version of Oh! Yoko in the pipeline...

That “Butterfly” tune that Zoe posted a link for really kicks butt. I wish I didn’t like it but I really do!

There’s a song posted from before I was a member and I really like it called “Three man” or …”men” don’t recall. I found the link last night as it was posted by one Abraham_Love but the link didn’t work. It was a while back and I was easily impressed by the Zoom stuff at that point so I don’t know how good it really is. Does anyone have the mp3 and/or a way to contact “Abraham_Love”?

Ps
Nice to see that RC is on the thread. That was the “colab” I was referring to on an ealier post.

RC agreed but Alex is incommunicado, I have him on IM but he hasn't been on for 2-3 weeks.

Well it that all we've got.

4 or so years of this forum and we can only generate a handful of songs :D

No response from any of the suggestions as of now.

Well I would recommend some of Jeffster's or Nicka's early efforts, but I'm sure you've heard them all from their websites. The I seem to have is that many of the songs i've kept happen to be cover versions. Original material seems a little harder to come by. You could always go back to zoomilation1. One thing is for sure, the production quality of songs has improved over the years. Early efforts were a bit raw by most of us here.

I thought you were sepcifically looking for uptempo songs. If not, other suggestions:

Missing Link by Storpotaten http://www.2090.org/zoom/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=2295

After all this time Storpotaten and RC
No link available for this one but Stor must have a copy
http://www.2090.org/zoom/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=3252

Boogie Man by Nicka
http://www.2090.org/zoom/bbs/viewtopic.php?t=2395

Devil woman by Jcp strat. I cannot find his original post on the forum, but the song is here:

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pagemus ... ndID=63734

Unfortunately none of Trace's (aka Mike Tarr) seem to be available. Headlights was one of the most beautiful song posted on the forum.
