Line 6's Major NAMM Teaser

Per this thread, the Line 6 company is set to unveil "the most significant product announcements in the history of the company."

If that doesn't scream "please pay attention to us" nothing does. I hope they deliver something worth that statement.
Any clues or suggestions for what it may be? I'm hoping it's iPad2 related somehow because I just got one for the family and I'd like to use it for music too. Lol

PS: they have a "see.change 1.19.12' slogan on their site now too. Guess we'll see something...

I keep thinking that the word "see" has more importance than just waiting for the specified date. So that may be implying an interface change (and I hope its iPad related, lol). I'm thinking it may be some kind of a clue.

Then again, it may merely be a play on the phrase "a sea change" . Either way, they're apparently touting a major shift of some sort; looking forward to it!

I hope it isn't this.
That would be a major disappointment.

So their big idea is the StageScape M20d and it does support a 24-bit WAV format recording to local SD card, USB drive, or out to computer (MAC/PC). Very interesting, but it's more or less geared for live sound support.

Took the words out of my mouth. Lol

I predict it'll be discontinued in less than two years. I'm not sure what they're thinking with this or their over priced Variax replacements. It's as if they're unaware of the financial difficulties the average consumer is having these days. I can't even see anyone with money to burn running out to buy this because it hasn't built on anything that would make folks confident enough to abandon the current paradigm. They may be too out front at this point.

Let's hope they have a few more things to announce before the show is over, and I think they do because they did say "announcements" plural. But as for "see.change.1.19.12"... it was more like "hear crickets and a distant yawn from the crowd".

Yeah, and those who do have some spare cash are all out buying YPTM Guitars...or selling them for a loss.
:P
In times like this, we need to give what we can to charities.
There are a lot of people hurting out there.
Back to your NAMM talk....

Seriously, the only money to be made in music anymore is playing live so, smart move Line 6!

exactly, i don't think they will sell much of it. is there even a market for such an "innovation"? don't know.

but i am pretty happy that there is this announcement:

There are a few demo vids on YouTube for it. The concept is great but not unique. Except for, maybe, selling the notion that specific hardware is needed to accomplish the objective. I haven't seen how the whole system differs from a computer centric live sound setup? In other words, apps will do the same without the need to invest in more equipment, but i suppose they're appealing to folks who aren't tech savvy nor have the patience to load software... I guess. :D

2012 NAMM is over and I didn't see ANYTHING from Line 6 of interest to me. Bummer.

I did like the new guitar Peavey announced, the AT-200. $499 suggested retail. Electronic auto tuning with active intonation pitch correction. Supports alternate tunings.

Peavey has some interesting videos here: http://peavey.com/NAMM/
