Importing data in Zoom H6

Post by zult » Sat Jan 13, 2018 9:05 am

Hi

Is it possible to import audio (mp3- or wav files) in the Zoom H6?

Not having a unit on which to experiment...

Hypothetical:

Using card reader mode, you might be able to copy files -- in the proper format -- into an existing project directory, using the naming scheme shown on page 26 of the manual (check a project -- that page seems to use hyphen - for the LR stereo file, but underscore _ for the other inputs). You might be able to take advantage of the naming system used in overdubbing shown of page 36 (it is not clear if the take number is only added to the overdubs, or retroactive to the original file also -- simple test would be to create a new project, record a few minutes on LR, then overdub a few minutes again on LR; if the files are LR_01 and LR_02 then overdubbing is retroactive, if LR and LR_01 then only the overdubs get numbered)

After copying properly named files into the project, you might need to perform the Rebuild operation on page 62 in order for the new files to be "logged" into the project data.

If it's like H5 it will have to be wav, you can't overdub over an mp3 in multifile mode

Thanks for your reply too, greenA2.

This is how it works:

Record a dummy file (in wav format!) as long as the file you wonna use on the H6 SD card.
Put the SD card in your pc and copy the file you wonna use to the dummy file directory
Rename the file after the dummy file and delete the dummy file.

Leave the project file as it is!

Thank you Wulfraed & greenA2 !
