Is it possible to have distortion after -6dB but below 0dB?
This is happening to me when i test 7-8 kHz sines.
Is there anyone willing to test it on his h5 for me plz?
Thanks.

Re: Zoom h5 - Distortion question
Hi there,
you were faster, I was just about to ask the same question!
For some reason my H5 is distorting severely above 8k, but only in DAC mode (both Stereo and MCH).
This is -2dBFS at 8KHz

And this is 0dBFS at 8kHz

Would be very grateful if someone can step in and say it's a problem with just a few units, not the whole design.

Wow, just saw your reply.wqcr wrote:Hi there,

So it wasn't just mine...
I sent it back from the store i bought it and they said that this is a normal behavior and they sent it back to me.
Zoom told me that this is not a normal behavior though...
Let me know if you found anything new on this..
Thanks,
Lef

Re: Zoom h5 - Distortion question
This is the case with my unit as well. When using as an interface, the high end frequencies are distorted. This is especially noticeable on High Hats. I bought the device for field recording mostly and there are no problems when using it in this capacity.
Here is the clean sine sweep
Here is the sine sweep looped through the H5
It's pretty much bang on at 8kHz it distorts, exciting all audible frequencies.

Re: Zoom h5 - Distortion question
Hello,
Do you also see any clipping(blinking leds) below 0 dbfs at the device's monitor, when using it as recorder with the default xy mic at 7-8+ khz sounds ?
I do see them while recording several things wth high frequencies.
Thanks for your response
