H4N Pro: Preamp & Compressor Settings For Podcasts

Post by aliasdandavis » Sat Apr 01, 2017 12:45 am

I'm very new at this. I help some friends out that do a podcast. I bought the H4N Pro to record electric guitar. When my buddies started the podcast, they asked me to record it since I already own a recorder. The results are a little rough, but I'm getting the hang of it. Trial and error. There's a whole lot of information out there about podcasting with the original H4N. Not a lot for the newer patches that come with the Pro.

Has anybody got better results with one patch in particular after trying various settings? The 3 that I've been using are the main preamp that is default in stereo mode and the VO Pre & Flat Pre that are in the effects patches. Also, does anyone who's tried them both prefer either the default compressor or the rack compressor patch?
