Wind Noise

Post by wileythree » Thu Nov 16, 2006 12:00 am

Was wondering if anyone has experience using the H4 outside for recording music. I shoot band video at high school football games from on top of the press box. It is the windiest spot around. I can't get rid of the rumble from wind when using the camera builtin mic. Can this device plug into the camcorder and act as the mic or just record separately and sinc the the video later? Has anyone used it in the wind?

Any input would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Example wind noise with and without windscreen

Here is a Zoom H4 podcast that contains audio with and without the windscreen:

I expect if you use the windscreen, gain on low, and talk very close to the windscreen, that you will be able to get a great recording.

If your video cam has a line in connect to H4 line out. If video cam only has mic in, your milelage may vary.
