Yeah, I emailed them and right before you replied I received a notice from PayPal:

Abes Electronics Center just sent you a full refund of $449.00 USD for your purchase.

Maybe they'll email me to explain what happened, but it seems they won't be selling the R24.

OK, well at least you didn't have to jump through hoops. It still sucks that you now have to wait longer to get your new toy and you won't get your $50 discount, but it could've been a lot worse.

Yeah, thanks for the support.

Maybe it's a sign not to buy one. I already have the R16, and multiple samplers. Looping and drums don't really appeal to me. I'm mostly just curious to test it and see what changed. I never produced anything with my R16. So if I get an R24, it's probably just $900 paid to Zoom to beta test. Usually beta testing is free, or they pay you. Hmm.

Okay so my R24 is no longer on its way, because it was refunded and I haven't ordered a new one. I love info, and sharing info, but I'm broke right now, so it's difficult for me to justify buying a $500 tool I don't really need, mostly just to discover things about it, and share that with others. So anyone else with one want to satisfy some of my curiosities?

Maybe do the loopback test to see if the recorded delay has changed since the R16? I'm curious if they had to upgrade the processor, so maybe the loopback results with and without an insert effect can give a clue about that. Also we wanted to know if the bounce mode always writes to a new file or if you can punch in to the same one. Stereo tracks are swappable now right? Does the new menu system reduce or increase the number of steps to perform basic tasks?

That's most of my major questions for now. I thought maybe I could cover costs to buy one for review if I added affliated links to it to buy. But I've had some links to stores selling the R16 for a year now, and despite lots of people reading the page, it earned $0. So being curious about music toys is expensive when you're not a professional.

Maybe we can make some kind of new music site for home recording artists, with in-depth reviews of low-priced gear, and have a special feature where you can try stuff out. Like, if I could buy an R24 to get some info about it to post, then people could sign-up to try it next, then I ship it to the next person in the list, and they play with it for a week or whatever, then ship it to the next. Maybe the agreement is, you get to play with it for awhile for free, but then you have to share some info about it, like what you thought. So there'd be a compilation of reviews, and the machine would also get lots of use so we could see what stuff broke easily and what's durable. I don't know, just an idea I had just now.

I personally think that it is a pretty cool idea, and it would especially help the 'bedroom musician' who is on a budget. I am surprised more people haven't chimed in.

To me, it seems that the task would be to find the right line of people technically-minded enough to really test the equipment. Otherwise, you will get people like me who can only say, "sounds good to me, bro." But, there are a good number of people on this forum up to the task.

Just think of regularly getting to play with the latest toys on the market. How can that not be appealing?
