Drum machine for use with R24

Post by Fishmagnet » Sun Jul 24, 2016 9:16 pm

I am enjoying recording with my zoom R24. However, i want a programmable drum machine that works with my background. I came up in a studio during the 80s, using a LinnDrum, which I found comfortable to use. Now i want to get a drum machine that is similarly easy to program. My favorite product on my budget so far is the Alesis SR-16. Will it work easily with the R24?

Please provide your suggestions for a drum machine, and any feedback on using the Alesis SR-16.

Can I suggest that among your requirements for a drum machine is the ability to output different drums to different outputs. My very elderly Yamaha RX8 is programmable and can have up to 4 mono outputs.

Thanks!
I haven't seen anything in the R24 manual about recording a pilot track to use with a drum machines. Have you heard anything about this?
