Gain control noise

Post by Joslenior » Tue Dec 06, 2016 5:19 pm

Grtz,

anybody experienced this: on a R8 with the inputs enabled turning the gain knobs generates a sizzling sound as if there is dust in the potmeters. After a while this lessens and almost disappears. When the unit is power cycled the sounds are back. Talking about a brand new unit.

Thanks for replying,

Jos

Does it make a difference which altorhythm is selected? Many of them change the preamp gain and that can affect how clearly you can hear control changes.

No, it's not depending on algorithm. I found some old posts describing this behavior and there is a statement from Zoom that this is caused by a design glitch whereby phantom power is effecting the op amps. I think I can live with it.
