faders don't affect input level

Post by SteveD » Thu Feb 16, 2017 1:59 pm

I'm using two R16 recorders linked by USB. The faders don't affect the input levels when in record mode, although the input sensitivity (mic vs. line) do. Is this normal? I'm unable to set input levels because of this.

The faders have no effect on recording levels. The are for monitoring and playback only.

All the control of the recording levels is by the rotary controls.

In more detail -- please refer to page 6 of the manual... Step 4 in particular.

Basically:
GAIN set to just flicker PEAK LED.
If you have an insert effect active, adjust the PATCH LEVEL (the output of the effect) so that the 0dB on the meter does not illuminate (if there is no insert effect, the prior PEAK setting should be correct for record level).
Adjust fader to adjust monitoring mix level (overall level is MASTER fader).

Yes, I checked the manual prior to posting - Step 4 on page 6 does not specifically say that the faders have no effect on record level. That's an unusual configuration and that's why I thought I was possibly operating the units incorrectly. Thanks for your help!
