Re: Zoom R16 to Pro Tools First
Are you using ProTools on a Windows or Mac system? What operating system is your computer using? Have you downloaded and installed the R 16 driver software available from Zomm's website here: https://www.zoom-na.com/products/produc ... controller? Have you downloaded and read Zoom's "Issues and workarounds about DAW software" pdf file?

Re: Zoom R16 to Pro Tools First
Hi, I'm trying to set up my R16 with Protools First on a PC with Windows 8.1. All goes well until I try to set the Playback Engine in ProTools First before I start a new project. I can see Windows Audio Device and Zoom R16_24 ASIO Driver as two options but when I select the Zoom R16 option (is that what I should be choosing?) I get the following error:
Assertion in "D:\ Code\ 223093\ ProTools\ AAE\ Source\ AAX\ CFicAAXWidget.cpp", line 851.
I'm not too IT savvy so any help would be appreciated. I have downloaded the Zoom Issues and Workarounds file but it pertain to Windows 10.
Thanks

Re: Zoom R16 to Pro Tools First
Meant to say, my R16 display is showing a sample rate of 96kHz yet the Playback Engine window in ProTools First is showing 48kHz. Not sure if this has any bearing on the issue I am having?

ELVIS.
ProTools and the R16 need to be set for the same sample rate. You also need to make sure the R16 and ProTools are set for the same bit depth. I would use the standard for compact disc audio which is 44.1Khz sample rate and 16 bit depth.
ProTools has there own way of doing things and AAX is a ProTools standard. I don't really understand what that error message means but it reads like it's trying to translate the R16 ASIO driver into an AAX emulation.
The ProTools forum doesn't offer too much help. When you look at this thread http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/download/en379411 it suggests trying ASIO4ALL http://www.asio4all.org/ since the Zoom R16 is not approved for use with ProTools.
