Re: R8 firmware update
Anything of interest involved in it? I might have to pull mine out.

Re: R8 firmware update
Also the software has been updated to v2.2.0. Here is the reason for the software update as quoted from the news announcement:
(This post has been edited to clarify my error of concentrating on the software update because I did not realize the initial post was about a firmware update.)
Here is a link to the software update announcement: https://www.zoom.co.jp/R8-driver Note the link is to the Japanese website, not Zoom N-A.When using R8 on Windows 10 Anniversary Update Ver1607/64bit, R-series cannot be selected in Ableton Live software.

Re: R8 firmware update
The upgrade is to fix a firmware problem that effects other Zoom products (L12, L20) as well:
Quote: “Recording data on SD card sometimes cannot be accessed on PC when recorded with SD card that is not formatted with R8.”
I haven’t tried it yet, so upgrading is at own risk.

Jim is referring to a Windows driver update.

Re: R8 firmware update
You are absolutely correct Joslenior. Thank you for pointing out my error and I apologize for not reading the initial post correctly.
Misreading SD cards not formatted on the device has been a thorn in Zoom's reputation for a long, long time. This forum is peppered with posts where that issue has contributed to the underlying problem. Good to see Zoom recognized the issue and fixed it.
I forgot how old the R8 is and didn't realize it is more than seven years old until reading the release notes statement that the initial firmware release was May, 2011.
One firmware upgrade after more than seven years of service is a great accomplishment.

Re: R8 firmware update
Sorry Jim_Fogle if it sounded as a correction: that was not my intention...
Yes, I fully agree that one firmware upgrade after more than seven years is a great accomplishment. I can think of smartphone manufacturers that could learn from this
