guitar noise

Post by tedcousens » Wed Jan 30, 2019 6:29 pm

I am plugging my guitar directly into channel 1 on my R16 and from there, to Cubase Artist 10. It is noisy, hiss mostly. How can I quiet things down? Of course if I add plug-ins, it gets much worse.

Tedcousens, Welcome to the forum!

Question 1 is how does your guitar sound if you use the same guitar and cord into something else like an amplifier, mixer or sound system?
Question 2 is are you plugging the guitar cord into the channel 1 of the R16?
Question 3 is do you have the R16 channel 1 Hi-Z (high impedance) switch turned on?
Question 4 have you tried moving the guitar cord so it isn't close to other electrical cables, the computer monitor or other electronic equipment?
Question 5 have you tried straightening the cable so it is uncoiled and not acting as an antenna?
