Suggestions for Q3HD compatable power pack?

Post by RufusTF » Tue Apr 19, 2016 2:08 pm

While I dig the product very much for recording live gigs, the battery life on this thing (Q3HD) is insufficient for my needs, so I am limited to setting it up where there is access to AC power. I'm sure someone has figured out how to keep the thing recording at the highest level of video & audio quality possible, but there is scant information about it I've been able to find. Does anyone here have a recommendation? I do realize we are talking about a non-zoom product, but it seems like that is the only solution as the co. does not seem to make a Q3HD specific remote power supply.
Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

Right. That is what I'm currently using. I'm looking for a battery that will keep it going 4-5 hours. Bought a power pack on ebay but it shuts down after 1 to 10 minutes. Power pack may be defective, but I will try another.

Has no one here used this product with a remote battery?

Since most of my shots with Q2HD are near my computer, i just keep it powered by USB. I do same with my Q8.

Any 5v AC-Adaptor with standard USB connector should work. They are usually 5v @ 1Amp or better. Even an Apple iPod/iPad/i Phone one.

Just plug in a USB standard to USB micro cable.

I just confirmed that the Q4 operates on USB power with battery removed.

Harbor Freight (tool supply house) offers a lithium-ion battery power pack with a USB port that can supply up to 2 Amps. The power pack also has jumper cable connections and a power port for 12Vdc.

You may consider that unit a little bit of overkill. Many cell phones recharge through USB ports so USB power packs that use dry cell batteries, or are rechargeable batteries, are pretty common and easy to find.
