Cool, haven't had a time to try them out so far.

I thought about sharing our patches, if you have some that you're proud of, share them with the rest :) I'll contribute too as soon as I have something interesting.

It initially appeared that Zoom chose the 16th of every month to release new updates for the G5n. Its the 28th of June now, and
still no sign of a June release. I'll be keeping my eye on things and add it to the list as soon as Zoom makes it available. They just
released an update for the F8 Multitrack recorder, so that's probably what's causing the delay. Shouldn't be too far off.

I'm not quite sure that this is how you go about posting a new topic but here goes. I have a brand new g5n and I'm wondering what kind of amp or monitor or PA system it works best through as I am having problems with the patches or the preset or even some of the editing that I do turning out to be a nice sound. I'm using a an American Stratocaster 1995 and anIbanez cheap $199 humbucker guitar into Bugera V5 and spider 4 75
1473347084708-603039866.jpg
Line 6 amp.. so it's one solid state and 1 tube amp and they both really don't do the processor Justice. So I was wondering if anyone ever since they come out with the new pedal has anyone for sure hooked it up to something that plays every patch or every preset plays it loud and clear and exactly what are you using the pedal through is it a monitor a PA system or a specific amplifier guitar amplifier. Thank you....

Can you type out some patch parameters for the lead to "nothing else matters" by metallica?...I have no computer, only an Android phone (internet)...

I believe Metallica used a Roland JC-120 for the clean parts on their black album if that helps any.

I would need the typed or written out parameters from someone who can simulate what you said on the zoom g5n..I've searched high and low through patches and changing parameter settings but cannot seem to get close...on YouTube a guy prints out the parameters for homemade patches for an older G5,I was wwondering if anyone did this for the new zoom g5n...

If the G5n has, or will get the JC-120 amp-sim in the near future, that's where you could start. Its a
popular and commonly modeled amp. Otherwise, people trying to get this sound will have some
trouble nailing it without using that particular modeled amp. Maybe someone got close another way.

So i did a little research, and i think i have a general jist of the type of FX used in the chain on
Nothing Else Matters. Basically the FX order is the JC-120 > Stereo Chorus > Reverb. If the G5n
hasn't got the JC-120 yet, try either an Acoustic amp, or an EQ instead of the JC-120, and set it
the way you like it. Now i can't tell you exactly which stereo chorus or reverb to use, or even the
exact parameters each has, but its a fairly simple chain, and with a bit of effort and tweaking,
you should be able to figure out the rest out on your own and get pretty close. Also, if you can,
study the FX chain used on the G5 example you spoke of, and try and replicate it on the G5n.
Obviously you mightn't be able to replicate the entire chain with the exact FX from the G5, but
you can certainly try to fill in the missing gaps with similar types of effects from the G5n.

it's the solo that I need....
Is that for the lead (solo) or for the verses? Like you said, the clean part (verses) I already get the verses pretty good, maybe a little ghost tones or swelling midrange, but I'll try what you say..The line 6 spider iv 75 watt i have has a patch named "nothing else matters", but I don't like it...I think the solo on the cd or radio the original song by metallica has distortion or overdrive or amp gain...

Clean guitars only sorry, you never really specified. Metallica relied heavily on the Marshall JCM series and
Mesa Boogie amps for gain channels. Just front-end one of those with a tube screamer for a reasonable start.
The only possible problem i see here in getting to your result, is using the Line-6 amp while dialing in your tones.
You'd get closer if you where tweaking with headphones or monitors, the spider would be coloring your tone.

There isn't an effects loop in either the g5n or the spider amp....would an effects loop bypass the amps' coloring?...

Update!! Forget about this one...acoustic SIM is great but I tried amp Sims and they fizz or rattle (just no good at all).. tweaked everything but no go..gonna give up on powered speakers and trade for better amp..I'll get back to you later...:(

Update ...ended up with a fender hot rod Seville 4/10s...60 watt..but wait a minute..it has effects loop so I can bypass preamp by going into power amp in (effects return). When using amp-Sims you simply plug directly into power amp (effects return )there are numbers of way to plug it in for colorization or not..i haven't had time to try it completely out, but its definitely an improvement..trade my bugerav5& my spider iv 75watt plus money..got a good deal standing alone!!! The salesman demoed it with
1474594913190.jpg
1474594979905.jpg
an American standard Stratocaster and it was good as is, without the g5n..but again I tried a couple of patches without bypassing preamp, regular guitar input and they sounded all right...got late had to quit..will report results another day.thanks for the help, my guess is I should have had a computer in the mix before a powered speaker .....

Update-Saturday- tried different routes in the deville effects loop as suggested on a forum somewhere..it works straight in to guitar input, the return or power tube input, and routed normally, return send etc..it was definitely the cure for the problems..still have to tweak parameters though. The bigger amp responds dramatically to changes in parameters..
So I finally ended my quest..thanks...

Generally, MFX units tend to sound better straight into FX returns on guitar amps. The smaller and cheaper
amps tend not to have them, so you have to spend more to have them. Using FX returns instead of front-end
input will bypass the amp's pre-amp and reduce coloring, but it still won't be completely neutral, and still
be colored by the power amp and speaker. If you care a lot about nailing other artists signature tones, then
this can be a problem. If its not a big deal to you, then coloration can work in your favor so long as it was
colored in a way that pleases you, and sometimes you can end up with a great result with an odd combination
of gear. Tone is subjective, and if you like what your hearing, then that's all that matters !
