Possible to provide F8 timecode to 2 cameras?

Post by allebaug » Tue Jan 01, 2019 1:12 pm

Has anyone used the timecode from an F4/F8/F8n to feed two camera bodies simultaneously? (to sync 2 cameras to recordings, at minimal expense and gear.) I believe that 3 Ambient NanoLockets could be set to sync the recorder with the 2 cameras, but then the recorder would only be a slave unit in the setup.

Thanks for any feedback.

I will answer my own question and close this post.

I settled on the Tentacle Sync E devices for timecode syncing.

It may well be possible to use a T or multi-port BNC splitter from the Time Code Out BNC connector of the F8/8n/4, and a cable from the splitter to each camera to provide a timecode signal to the camera (not explored further).

However, the Tentacle Sync E device (or Ambient NanoLockit device) is independent/not attached to the recorder after initialization of the timecode. This was preferable to a cable connection, at the expense of one device per camera but none remaining attached to the recorder.
