Zoom Arq AR 48 Questions

Post by Retrosteel » Sat Feb 09, 2019 5:12 am

Dear Zoomer,

I recently bought a AR 48 Ufo thingie. Nice unique machine!

Now there was no AR 48 on the NAMM show, will the AR48 be discontinued, like the AR 96?

Will there never be a editor? Will there be updates in the future? Please let us know!

Hi Retrosteel and welcome to the forum!

No one on this forum admits to an association with Zoom or any of its affiliates so anything someone states about Zoom plans for the future is likely conjecture and not based on first hand knowledge.

Both the ARQ 96 https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail ... rhythmtrak and ARQ 48 https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail ... trak-ar-48 remain for sale. Sweetwater sells the original ARQ 96 (labeled as just the ARQ) for $200 US and the newer ARQ 48 for $350.

Like many corporations Zoom rarely announces their business plans in advance. One way to gain some insight is to look at information available to investors. https://ir.zoom.co.jp/corp/business.html I've reprinted below Zoom's ARQ business statement:
ARQ RhythmTrack (ARQ)
EDM uses a large amount of electronic sounds and is gaining popularity in the U.S. and Europe. Currently, club-type music festivals in which DJs continuously play EDM are popular. We launched the ARQ AR-96, the first product in this category, in May 2016. This product enables users to program EDM rhythms by tapping with their fingers 96 pads arranged in a circle. It is equipped with functions such as a phrase looper (*9), synthesizer (*10), and sequencer (*11). The ring pad can be removed from the unit and used wirelessly, allowing DJs to use the product while moving around on the stage.
(09*) Phrase looper: A device that sequentially repeats a phrase recorded for a certain time period.
(10*) Synthesizer: A device that synthesizes sound electronically.
(11*) Sequencer: A device that automatically plays input sound.

Thank you Jim,

Does anybody have any additional information? I think there is very little information about those ARQs around. Looks like they are not very succesful, at least not too many seem to be around. There is only little discussion about it on the net an not too many usefull videos around.

Maybe we can collect anything usefull in this thread? Anything is welcome from my side.

A friend on another forum got one and really liked it. I've looked for his thread about it, but couldn't find it.
