Zoom Tac-8 Thunderbolt- Anyone use one of these?

Post by Kissm27 » Sat Aug 24, 2019 1:58 pm

Im new to this forum, so when I finally was able to search I couldn't find any posts on the Tac-8. Does anyone else use one? I have one and I recently bought a second. I just wondered how you connect two of these units for expanded input channels to, say, Logic Xpro. I mic my drum set but would like more than 8 inputs. I also use this unit for its outputs when my trio plays live. I track the drums at home and use them on stage. It works out pretty great and I get to be the drummer and guitar player at the same time...LOL! I can split out the drums to different tracks for Front of house so the Soundman can mix my drums and add different affects to Snare, Kick etc. Works out great.

Hello Kissm27 and welcome to the forum.

The Tac-8 software appears to be Apple specific. My computer uses the Windows operating system so I've not looked at the Tac-8 until your forum post.

Sample Application 1 on this web page https://zoom-na.com/products/productio ... converter indicates the two devices can be interconnected using the ADAT IN and ADAT OUT located on the rear of each unit. The devices will connect as master and slave where one unit (the master) provides a syncing clock and the second unit (the slave) uses the clock provided by the master instead of its clock.

Then you will need to follow the directions on pages 16 & 17 of the user manual to set one device as the master and the other as slave.
