I've purchased the Pro Tools upgrade, but have been hesitant to load it, since I've heard that the timeline scrolling (among other functions) is painfully slow. Since you've started to use it, what has been your experience with the performance (speed). I;m particularly curious about the performance on a MacBook Pro or iMac. Thanks in advance.

Hi Dave
You should be able to run your digidesign interface at lower and higher buffer sizes now too.
There is an issue with RTAS instruments performance, but that was there in 7.4.

The slow horizontal scrolling is a PC problem. Pro Tools 8 runs great on my MacBook pro and on my quadcore PC.

Overall I feel like this is the best performing version of Pro Tools yet. There aren't any bugs big enough to prevent me from using it.

Dave,

Even though I haven't fully switched over to ProTools 8 on my HD rig, my Le rig has been running version 8 for about 6 months now. I'm using just a regular MacBook (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo) running through a firewire drive. I have no problem recording 16 tracks at once, the computer is plenty powerful (even though I only have 2 gigs of RAM). I haven't really ran mass amounts of virtual instruments and plug-ins, it also seems to do fine with most of them.

Thanks for listening.

Jesse

**I also enjoy the look of the software as well. It's much easier on the eyes.
