Yeah, they keep rotating the deals. Some good basics like guitar cables.

I used a Boss "Dr. Groove" back in the 90s and managed to get some cool stuff out of it. Lately I've been missing that type of direct knob twiddling music making. I can throw a rhythm track together in a matter of minutes with Mixcraft, but there's no joy in that.

I also have my eye on a Korg Volcasample. Looks like fun.

I've also been playing with the mobile version of Fruity Loops on my cell phone. Good for the long commute home. :)

So the drum machine arrived yesterday and I'll be doing a full review once I've wrapped my brain around it, but thought I'd dump some first impressions here.
  1. I already like it. The layout is for the most part logical and I'm finding the buttons I need. The display is BRIGHT!!!! (you can turn it down) so this would be great for live work. It feels very solid, so again suitable for live work.
  2. There are times you think you've saved something and you haven't, so I'm going to need to develop that habit. Otherwise the workflow is easy and logical.
  3. If you've ever used a drum machine before, you'll be up and running pretty quickly with this one.
  4. My main reason for choosing this particular drum machine was price and realistic drum sounds. It has the usual techno and hip hop kits, which are fun, but there are many good options for realistic sounding kits, and of course you can edit and save kits to create your own.
Like I said, full review to come in the next weeks, but so far it's well worth the $150 I paid.
