Almost There!

Post by voclizr » Sun Apr 24, 2016 7:18 am

You guys who've been here on this forum since I've been here (or longer) remember how I started. I just had a Zoom MRS802 and a Yamaha PSR keyboard with a Peavey dynamic mic. It seems like now I've come full circle. I've put lots of money into this since I now have a dedicated room. Since last October I added a Avantone CV-12 tube condenser mic, a Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 interface and, and now, sound re enforcement panels from Auralex. They did a free room analysis for me and recommended this Roominator kit. All I need to do now is get deep fold curtains for the windows on the upper right side. I've also bought, on the software side, a Renaissance EQ from Waves Audio and a Fix Flanger and Fix Doubler from Softube. I'm trying to learn all I can about mixing. Learning about how things like EQs, delays, compressors and the like work because all I've really been doing the past 10 years is turning knobs, hoping to get a better sound without ever really taking the time to learn what these modules do or how they really work. Now that I'm doing all that, the strange thing is that now I seem to have less people to share this with, meaning this forum. I realize that peoples lives change. Mine sure did. But I wish it was half as lively as it was when I joined 10 years ago. Oh, well. There are still a few old timers that hang around here from time to time and some newer guys who appreciate the love of making good music and having fun doing so.

Here are some pics I took of my latest mutations. This is it because I'm out of money for this now.

I envy you and your studio - the pix are very nice - kudos!
I'm presently stuck in my basement, though I do have some nice gear, but I have to remember to turn off the thermostat before recording with the microphones
One day, I'll get a more efficient and dedicated space.
Thanks for the inspiration...

No room for Carrie Underwood and The Beatles to hang out on a wall?

WOW! Glad I stopped in, JB! That's quite a studio! I'm still in the same old shared room. I just might invite myself over for a session! Cool to see you're still soldiering on!
