Coolest Photo Of All Time - Starman

Post by Jim_Fogle » Fri Feb 09, 2018 12:25 pm

I'm thinking it's appropriate to post this photograph because: some forum members are also interested in photography, "Space Oddity" by David Bowie is playing through the sound system (good luck hearing that in a near vacuum, ha ha) and every time I see the photograph it makes me smile. Go Starman! :cheer: :^:

I haven't inserted an image before so I hope I'm doing this right!

Yes, the SpaceX program is pretty exciting although I'm not sure about sending the car into space. But I guess it proves a point (that the craft can carry that much weight) and it's on their dime, so more power to them. And also cool that Bowie's soundtrack involved.

Although some previously used hardware was used on this flight this was the first liftoff for the Falcon Heavy configuration. First flight payloads typically are concrete blocks or other heavy, but non critical items. This payload attracted a lot of free publicity and attention so even though it was not a critical payload the payload more than paid for itself.
