The UK magazine, Sound-On-Sound, announced a few hours ago that BandLab is offering a free download of the DAW formally known as Sonar Platinum. The DAW is now called "Cakewalk by BandLab". There are some restrictions.

You have to have, or start, a free account with Bandlab.

Cakewalk by Bandlab requires a 64 bit Windows 7 or higher operating system. 32 bit operating systems are no longer supported.

32 bit plug-ins will not be picked up by the VST scan since they are not supported.

Some of the Cakewalk designed plug-ins are presently not available but will be in the future.

Third party plug-ins that use to be included in the Platinum edition of Sonar are not included in the download but, if you have them from past Sonar installs they will work.

A few months ago this software was selling for $499 US.
