Anyone Watch PBS Series "Country Music"?

Post by Jim_Fogle » Thu Sep 26, 2019 8:35 pm

Our local Public Broadcast System (PBS) affiliate broadcast the last episode of the PBS series, "Country Music", last night.

Anybody beside me watch all the episodes? What did you think? Are you a country music fan? :look:

A couple of things I learned:
Maybelle and Sara Carter bought motorcycles after A.P. and the Carter sisters became successful.
Singer / songwriter Roger Miller found the plane wreck that killed Randy Hughes, Hawkshaw Hawkins, Cowboy Copas and Patsy Cline. He climbed a fire station and saw the clipped tree tops.

If you missed an episode, PBS is streaming them: https://www.pbs.org/kenburns/country-music/ :^:

Yes, I watched it. It was well done. I do like country music (pre-80s). I enjoyed learning about the early days and loved seeing Cash, Haggard, Hank, Loretta, Dolly, Willie, and all the rest. Good production.

I read that there are more than 2,000 hours of audio and video interviews recorded for the show. Nothing was tossed out. What wasn't used in the series was donated to the archives of the Country Music Hall Of Fame.

If you like country music history you'll likely like https://cocaineandrhinestones.com/. There are some well researched and interesting stories there.
