What are YOU? Tell us...

Post by Lee » Tue Feb 06, 2007 6:16 pm

Sure, most of us play a few or more instruments and try to sing, but what are you? Please answer the poll question and explain "why" if you can.
Also, ask yourself if it's what you really are or merely what you want to be. This assignment will be worth 3 credits.

(I'll be sitting this one out but might ask questions and chime in.)

I can't really answer between Songwriter and Home Recording Buff. I'm gonna go with Songwriter because on the Home Recording Odyssey they always say that I deal more with songwriting when I talk because I'm not really that interested in all the tech gadgets and crap that they talk about all the time :D

Songwriter all the way. I only play instruments because I doubt you guys want to hear me speak my songs. Hell, some of you don't even want to hear me sing my songs. :?

Musician pretty much sums it up.

With occasional meanderings into songwriting and home recording...

and cheese...

Forgot the and why...

Just, because.

I make no pretense.... I play guitar. All songwriting, vocalizing and recording are designed to further my goal of being as good as I can be at playing the guitar.

You left off "all (but one) of the above".

I'm trying to do all (but the last one) to the best of my ability. But I'm not better enough at any of them to choose one.

Well, I didn't read too close. I have to exclude vocalist.

This is a hidden conspiracy. The first step of the plan to separate guitarists, songwriters and home recording buffs in separate forums, with penalties if you try to cross over.

Wow. You got to love the three (so far) "non-committal cheese balls who refuses to follow directions and answer poll questions and follow thread guidelines because they think they're so freakin' great and want to say "all of the above". Kiss my butt worlders!"

Not sure if Manz is one of the three. If not, make that four. :D

I voted for non committal cheeseball, not only cos i want to say "Kiss my butt world!" but also cos there was no option for singer/songwriter.

I'm definitely not a lead guitarist but I play rhythm and sing, both playing live as well as for recording.

Kiss my butt world!

Songwriter all the way. Seeing as I have been writing since before I could actually play an instrument.
I picked up guitar and bass as a neccessity, in order to complete my songs.
Dogs growl and babies cry when I sing.
I can barely figure out how to turn the recorder on and off...
So, yes songwriter it is.

Hummm....

Many years ago I was an on-again/off-again, PT, coffee-house, acoustic musician/songwriter.... (just for fun and spare change  )
but over the past couple of decades, I've just fallen back into the hobby songwriter role... where I probably should have been all along anyway! :D

Now... I simply enjoy writing and creating fun songs with my daughter!

Making and recording music is a nice (yet frequently frustrating and expensive) hobby that I hope to continue with. So, I voted for... songwriter. :look:

No recording buffs or singers. I guess all the recording buffs are the folks who don't post here or in the new song area, and "real" singers don't buy Zoom stuff.

Real singers are all famous and above us.

Who would admit to being a recording buff, it's like admitting to being a Nazi. But I think the home recording odyssey people would fit there.

Come on Daren, the idea here is to pick the one you are not say all of them. All of use are all of them to some degree.
