The Wheel..............Original\MRS8 and reaper\ Collab!!!

Post by maceman » Mon Apr 27, 2009 9:58 am

Hi All,

I was holding onto this until real drums came, but they are still delayed and I don't want to hold on anymore as I am moving into some newer material....

Big Thanx to Nigel (Keysshardy) for his wonderful work in this!!! ALso, A big tip o' the hat to James who did some great harmony work- you will hear the nuances of his harmonies specially placed throughout- exactly how i had envisioned them!

Hope you dig it!

Maceman

Great song Omega,
Really a great song, no nits from me on this one. Love the acoustic guitar, all the instruments & vocals seem to compliment each other so well. Very good job all around, going back for another listen!

Great song. Hat's off to James too for the vocal harmonies. Really nicely done.

Good recording & final mix. I couldn't have done it better myself.
In fact ... I couldn't have done it full stop!!

This song jumps out, grabs you and doesn't let go. Alot of sounds/textures to hold the listeners attention. The organ really fills it out nicely. That minor feel is really sweet through out the song. Nice ending too. Perf!

Nice chord progression. Wonderful drums, especially the cymbals, ride and crash. Good vocals and the harmonies really grab you. Beautiful guitar and cool harpsichord. 2nd listen is even better with the carousel organ. As a mater of fact, I can see the video from the carousel point of view. Very nice indeed!

Really a great production. Great song. Wonderful keys, and harmonies of vocals (hats off to Keys and James). Great vocals on your part too, Mace. Outstanding lyrics. Top notch song. Superb.

Another corker mace me old fruit!
Tough to top Snowflake, that's my all time fav tune of the moment, very special that one.

Love that intro, there's some great Guitar & keys work here. That Hammond in the background is ace.
This has a certain mystique in the overall vibe that I really like.
The panned vocals & harmonies are trademark maceman & good to hear Jimmy Fried Ryce in there too.

I may be tempted to lower the shaker a wee bit though, its panned brilliantly but Its very noticeable.
This begs multi-listens which I have done, the arrangement is pro quality.

Very impressed, will be first in line for the c.d. when its released!

Starts off a bit wobbly (to my ear) with the guitar part, but as soon as Keys comes in....it's right there. He did some stuff fer me, which you will hear someday soon, and I am always thinking, "why isn't this guy a studio musician?"
A very Maceman melody....kind of like a reprise of Fall Real Hard in the verses.
Liked the Dreamy Circus vibe that Key's herdi gerdi keys brought to this throughout.
Good chorus....sounds kinda like a Vocoder or auto tuner effect on the vox in that part. FLM was in this?
Fine job. So what is this? CD #4? 5?
Pro-liff-ick.

Wow.... Nice balance. The vocals sound nice, maybe a little bit more on the level, and maybe some processing(delay, chorus). I love the solo. The keys fit really nice in the background- not too overpowering....Nice melody...

I really like this one...

Just a quick thanx to all who listened and took time to make comments. I appreciate it.
Not feeling the best today- threw my back out, so I will keep it short and just say thanx to all for tuning in.

Cheers,

I suppose it's hard to follow the last one you posted. This is not as instantly memeorable as that previous song, although it sounds as though it could have been done during the same session, as there are some similar cadences and sounds.

Whatever, very melodic and pleasing on the ear.

Cheers

I remember this one :) . It's been a while since I heard it. If I remember correctly, mace has some of his own harmony on here as well. I think I gave him a couple tracks of me singing along with almost the entire thing and said to pick the spots he wanted them. Sounds like you did good to me on the selections.
Always enjoy working with you on these songs and this wasn't any different. I like finding the harmony notes and tone to go with your vocals.

Like the tune.
And thanks to all for the comments as far as my contribution to the song goes.
James.

Thanx guys!

I know snowflake is hard to follow. People seem to really dig that one. I think this is good on the same album and will mesh nice with the overall theme i am developing.

Thanx for the listens!

Kelsey got me up and listening to Forum songs this morning and I've got to say...as soon
as we heard your vocals on this one... our friend, Manzana... popped to mind!

There is a 'similar quality' to the voice.

Very nice production... well developed song!

Cool song Mr M.

Interesting effect on the vocals that works very well.

A real touch of modern R & B about it.

Class work guys :)

Cheers
