Another new one- It's a Primal World- Tascam

Post by pstratman » Sun May 10, 2009 1:57 am

This is pretty straight forward. Guitar and vocals-acoustic + strat

http://www.soundclick.com/pwellman

It's a Primal World

You were ragged but right
a thrilling knock down
ripped denim fight
you were the sparkle in these tired eyes
a spit polish bargain
as real and as sad as the setting sun
and you're the one
cause you're all I want
it's a primal world
and you're what I need
we'll waltz in the street
and you're all I want
it's a primal world
I need to believe
that I can follow your lead
cause its a primal world

like a July rocket
painting the sky
with a blazing heart
sophistication aint justification
you're as perfect as they come
and you're the one
cause you're all I want
it's a primal world
and you're all I need
we'll waltz in the street
and your all I want
it's a primal world
I need to believe
that I can follow your lead
cause its a primal world

Hey Phil,
Nice to hear some electric tones from you, like the strat solo at the end. Pretty good song, it's got the stratman sound!!! Good job!!!!

I just listened to the song this morning I hear several problems, and things I don't like- this one is going to have to be rerecorded I think.

I don't know whay you don't like about it but as is it is a nice raw recording. Again, great lyrics. Nice and short too. I think there is just as much art/craft in making interesting short numbers as there is in making the longer, jamming pieces. Nice one.

Hi Cracks,
I actually fixed a couple of the things I didn't like and then updated the file, so this version is improved slightly from the original. Thanks for listening.

Choice acoustic tones. Reminds me of America from the first beat and they are one of my favorite bands. I really like that progression. Nice break too. Good vocal harmonies there. Strat solo is a nice touch. Interesting effects used. Giving it some unique sound. Good song stratman.

Love the percussive acoustic guitar rythmn, goes well with your voice. I'm not sure what you're referring to as problems, but I like what I hear.

First play I thought it could stand a fuller instrumentation, but after a couple more I realized I haven't a clue what I'm talking about.

Good stuff like it a lot.

What are you doing with the lead vocal? Is it two tracks panned? I think the main problem with this is that the vocal doesn't stand out, it sounds kind of spread around or something, like it's not in the front. Maybe just my own expectations, I dunno. The fade is a bit abrupt, too, or maybe I just wanted to hear more of that lead.

This is a real strong tune, Mr. Stratman. Excellent chord prog. As usual, this would be excellent with the full treatment and as usual, it's a great demo as is.
I'm not sold on the electric ending. Cool sound and good playing, just didn't think it fit this tune with all the bending and all those notes.
I think you could sell this tune to the right artist.
Good job.

Hi Phil,

Love the lyric. And your voice is good ( + those harmonies, appreciate
your judicious use of them and obviously you know how to blend).

The solo on the out expressive and I thought gave good point of interest.
Also closure.

Something about the acoustic strumming, not a biggy, but thought it too
accented or percussive - I mention it cause noticing
that took away from your song as a good whole and its pleasing sounding
individual parts.

A measured performance. Vocal harmonies are nicely balanced and excellent lyrics.

Guitar work is very good and that's a cracking solo on the outro :) I loved the tone and use the whammy bar.

Very good indeed!

Cheers

This is a little cracker Phil. I really like the chords and the togetherness of the performance. The primal guitar at the end also works very nicely thank you!

Bravo

TAIL;
I always enjoy listening to your vocals and harmonies.
Waiting for the electric to come in .... so far love the tune. Maybe the vocals could come up just a very small bit. Maybe not (I mix mine to hot all the time).
Liked the lead outro ... not as much as the rest of the song (a few too many bends maybe in there). It was good, but maybe I just need to listen again.

Good job. James.

Phil... I wouldn't change anything on this one. I love it as is... especially the ending.
You know... there's something about this song that reminds me of 'Stomp and Splash',
the one that Kelsey and I did with you years ago. I wish she had finished that one when
she was still just 9. Ah well...

Always love your music...

Another great song Phil. Could use the full band treatment to my ears. If I listen to your tunes back to back on my mp3 player it can sound a bit samey, only saying that in terms of listening to them all as an album one after the other.
Don't get me wrong, each song is great but would love to hear a few more dynamics.
I like the solo at the end.

Great vocals & harmonies as usual.
