Post by RiffRaff » Wed Mar 02, 2016 5:02 pm

New to the forum but meant to join a while ago.I've had my Zoom G1Xon box since middle of last year.IMHO bargain of the year or even decade.Running it though my Line6 Studio GX with a patch I've made to act as a DI box into my PC.

This is just a demo using a YT backing tracks.Love this little box

Recording chain,

Welcome to the Ghost town! :D

I had to look up what that product was, and it's a effects foot pedal.

Sounds like a nice blues jam, and the recording is excellent. It's something I'd liken to the Blues Masters (ie BB King, Albert King and Stevie Ray Vaughn to name just a few). It's a great listen.

You've nailed the strat rock/blues sound, makes me want a strat! The flamenco is a nice touch.

Thanks guys. The Strat is one of the cheapest ones they make e.g a Squier Bullet Bullet HSS.Absolute bargain,

Had to change the pots and 5-way switch as they are the only weakness and broke down after a couple of months daily playing.Alpha Brand pots are a reasonable price.
Although the standard ceramic pickups in the middle and neck aren't bad I wanted a more vintage tone so converted some cheap single coil Chinese Pickups to Alnico3 by taking the magnets off and using Alnico3 pole pieces.

The standard,"Humbucker" that comes with them is superb. It's under-wound,low-ish so doesn't overpower the single coils in the M/B positions for volume balance.

You can hear the GX1Xon and the Humbucker and singles really come together on this track using a Youtube guitar backing track,

I've tried loads of brands of strings over the years but always end up back at D'Addario EXL.They give great tone and longevity.

Welcome to the forum. Don't expect too many responses! It's ticking over but like many music sites things have slowed over the years.

Nicely done. Smooth playing :)

A bit of a Knopfler type sound that works really well.

Cheers

Very rich guitar playing. Love that style. A bit long for an instrumental and to be honest I didn't make it all the way through, but it was super playing and well recorded.

I've said before that you nailed the sound, let me also say that you've got impressive blues/rock technic on the guitar
