"Haylala-lele"/spanish style - old gear demo

Post by guitar fan » Mon Apr 11, 2016 2:56 am

Hey All
Just another work around a acapella song found online (on CCmixter.org/acapella section).

About the "Old gear"
I found an old Korg D4 for sale,I was curious and I finally got it for 60 bucks.
Image

I used the internal mic of the Korg and my classical guitar.
If you find the time, let me know what you think of the recording.
In my opinion, that's not better but not worse than my usual recordings.

Wow! I can't even find out what vintage that is. I can't find anything about the Korg D4, so I'm assuming that it's been off the market for quite some time.

Just listening on my laptop speakers it still sounds great though. Your excellent playing and singing still come through clear as a bell, and that's saying something coming from my laptop speakers.

Cool, but I'd like to hear a longer jam from you without the voice! Did you do any tricks with mic positioning or equalisation/fx to distinguish between solo and backing guitars? Sounds great. Looks like a good all in one box for a rock guitarist/songwriter

Nothing wrong with the guitar sound! Pretty good for an internal mic.

I'm not sold on e vocal but if it gives us a chance to hear you play then that's fine by me :)

Cheers

Your guitar playing was excellent and well recorded. The vocalist's part wasn't bad but it just didn't seem to be going anywhere. All in all, pretty good.

Feels more like just a work in progress. Both the vocals and the guitar seemed equal in the mix plus they seemed pretty clear to me. I'm looking forward to the full formed song. Glenn

Thanks a lot for taking the time.
Once again, this is just a demo,I added the
e-Vocals for a little joke..I wanted
to get your opinion about the sound.
The little box is from 2005,and all you get
is a final mix in a mp2 format....never heard of
mp2s....
To be honest,I don't hear any difference.

@Green
No Fx,no Eq.Same positioning for the 4 tracks,on a
table 3 feet in front of me.
Thanks again! ;)

NICE! I feel like I'm in Spain sitting outside in the sun! Cool you used that old digi RECer! VINTAGE, Guy! Lovely playing as usual. We could sure use some sun here in NJ about now!

I like it. Nice Spanish-ish and all. Are you going to make a longer track out of it?

Looks like it was a competitor to the Zoom PS4?

Really good and full, warm guitar sound for an internal mic. And great playing, as always. :)

It's the codec used for DAB radio (DAB+ has moved to something better), I've only come across it in radios that could record to memory/sd card. A bit worse than mp3 in quality, the way aac/wma is a bit better than mp3.
