The Needle, The Devil, & Heaven's Door~ Neil Young/Grateful Dead/Bob Dylan MASH UP Cover ~ R24

Post by Lungfruit » Thu Nov 23, 2017 7:38 pm

3 of my favorite songs kinda came together as I was warming up with "Needle & the Damage Done". It is a mash up cover of Neil Young's "The Needle and the Damage Done", The Grateful Dead's "Friend of the Devil", and a bit of Bob Dylan's "Knockin' on Heaven's Door".

I hope you like it and I appreciate your listens and comments.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Clever. Great guitar playing and singing. It sounded like a banjo in the middle area of the song. Good recording. You can't go wrong with gulls in a song. :metal:

Good one.

Thanks for listening Sean. That is a banjitar that I used for that part. I used to have a banjo but I didn’t have the motivation to learn it, so I sold it years ago. I just recently discovered that there was such a thing as a banjitar - so I bought one. :^:

Not too familiar with the originals here, except for the Dylan song. Sounds like you're sticking mainly to the NY piece, at least musically. Quite different from your usual work. Nice "mash-up".

Apologies for a late arrival.

Your voice works really well here. One of your best vocals I think.

An interesting mash up even if I wasn't clear when one ended and another began!

Nice work :)

Cheers

Thanks Dick. I'm using a Digitech Vocal 300 box with an effect called "squiggly" that gives my voice some vibrato to it. I only wish I could do that naturally.

Nice! I always loved NATDD even if it is about drug addiction. Beautiful gtr playing there and what I guessing is some synth strings added for atmosphere. Those seagulls and waves didn't hurt either. I expected to hear the chord progressions for FOTD and KOHD door but you just sang those bits to the Neil song, so that was a curve ball. Cool mash just the same, LF.
