"Over My Shoulder"-Original song & video

Post by voclizr » Thu Jul 05, 2018 7:42 pm

My Dad passed away this past Valentine's Day. He was 88. My Mom died on October 20, 2015 at the age of 82. I've also lost my first wife, my brother and a uncle all since the beginning of 2014. I love and miss them all. :(

I wrote this song for my parents and adding to the tribute, made a slideshow video consisting of various family pictures and the two of them on their vacation trips and cruises. I hope you enjoy this.

John, I listened to song twice. The first time without watching video so I could get the full impact of the music without being swayed by the images. Here are my notes:

Beautiful music.

Fitting lyrics (sad for loss, grateful for their love and God's mercy, an hopeful in that you will see them again).

Good, clear vocals.

Outstanding mix.

Great song title.

Second listen while watching video:

Very touching. It's cool you put lyrics on the video. It's a well written song. I'm impressed that you have the gumption to even make a video not to mention one so personal. Good work all around.

It's sad losing parents. I lost both of mine within 30 days back in 2012. I still think of them all the time. You honor your parents well with this work.

John,
I appreciate the inspiration for your song. Loss can be a powerful inspiration. I'm sorry to hear about the recent passing of your father. The video is a nice and fitting tribute to your parents. The song is full and clear. Your mix is right on. No 'verb on the vocals adds to the tone. As usual your style is very lyrical. Nice work.

Touching tribute. You have a way with lyrics. Thanks for sharing the link.

Heartfelt John.

It's a difficult subject and I appreciate your bravery and honesty for putting this out and pulling no punches.

Very nicely done.

My condolences.

I love the shimmering, bittersweet vibe, despite the grave subject. Condolences...
