"Uncovered" Original- Cakewalk by Bandlab

Post by voclizr » Wed Jul 25, 2018 5:08 am

I usually avoid politics in my music, but no matter what side of the political spectrum you support, if you follow at least the American news media long enough you can find some lies somewhere. I'm NOT going to get into an argument here over the liberal/conservative aspect. This is a Dick Langford style song of my observation of the state of the news media, at least on my side of the pond.

That was very smooth, John. Musically it was well balanced with the bass serving as almost the lead instrument. Nice mix.

Lyrically it wasn't bad either. You gave yourself away a little at the end but up to the last line the song could serve as a view of the "other side" by either side since everybody thinks everybody else is lying these days. I'll stay out of that battle on this forum but as a song it worked well.

Good one.

Dick Langford style?I think that must be a first for me :)

An interesting take on fake news.

I'll echo what Sean said.

Really well put together and clever phrasing on the verses.

Cheers

John,

Great sounding song. Excellent production. This is the first song I've heard that includes Strummed Acoustic Guitar where the guitar sounds like a guitar played a guitar player instead of a guitar played by a keyboard player. The song style matched the lyrics. Nice pacing. I really like how your arrangement allows your vocal to sound so clear.

Without getting into politics I can pretty well state I don't trust any of the television network coverage. And "talk radio", what a joke. Unfortunately newspapers are consolidating so that soon there will only be two or three ownership groups.

I use to enjoy reading the weekly news magazines like US News & World Report and Time. It seemed to me that having the luxury of publishing once a week the reporting was more temperate and even handed.

Thanks, Sean, dick & Jim! :D

I really wouldn't count too much on that I "gave myself away" on that last line. I think using "deplorables" in that context still doesn't quite give away what side I'm on. I originally recorded it as "alt-right" but I didn't want to associate it with a group of right wingers that are that strong in their beliefs. I figured I'd better use another word there and I remembered Hillary's "Basket" and just punched it in.

John,
A well mixed recording. Your mixing always brings out the nuances of all instruments without anyone being overpowering. The bass especially stands out. You also make those programmed drums sound human. Nice work. Glenn
