Ballad of the Bearded Lady ~ original Americana ~ R24
So I've had this project kicking around the Jam Lab since March of this year. I got the music down but the vocals were tough for me. I don't know how many times I recorded different takes. I think this is the best of them. My wife thinks there are a few off notes, but I'm going to be like Neil Young and just own those ones!
Thanks in advance for listening.

Great recording. Fantastic music especially during the chorus. What are all those instruments? The drums? Are they real? Outstanding electric guitar during the breaks.
Good one indeed.

Thanks for listening Sean. For this song I'm using my Taylor 110ce acoustic guitar, Fender P-bass, and a Fender strat through a Digitech RP255 pedal for the reverb. I'm also playing a Jameson banjitar in the choruses. I'm playing the drums. It's the Alesis DM10 electronic kit. Someday I'll get around to learning how to program a drum program, but for now I just play those parts on the e-kit. GlennThe Cracks wrote: ↑Wed Aug 08, 2018 4:43 pmGreat recording. Glenn - fantastic!
I love those drums! I love the banjo thing too and the electric guitar. And, I forgot, great melody in the chorus. Very catchy. That chorus really sounded like a full band humming along. Wonderful.
And great story line too. Well done. Very creative.

Excellent song. Well planned and executed. Impressive story telling. The use of the banjitar in the chorus was inspired.
I'm glad you mentioned the siamese twins. Eng and Chang bought their way out of the side show and settled near Mt Airy, North Carolina or about fifty miles from where I now live. They married two sisters and fathered 22 children. Their residence is a historic site and the location for family reunions. Mt Airy is also the hometown of the actor Andy Griffith and the inspiration for the Town of Mayberry on the Andy Griffith show.
The New York Times has an interesting and informative review of a book about them here: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/06/01/book ... rable.html

Thanks for the listen Jim. I was specially thinking of Eng and Chang when I wrote that line. I’m going to check out that book. GlennJim_Fogle wrote: ↑Wed Aug 08, 2018 8:22 pmExcellent song. Well planned and executed. Impressive story telling. The use of the banjitar in the chorus was inspired.

I've found two magazine articles about Eng and Chang. https://www.ourstate.com/chang-and-eng-bunker/ and https://www.ourstate.com/rekindling-kin ... ng-bunker/

Great work Glenn
Loved the lyrics and the story (and thanks to Jim for the links, fascinating!)
Nicely observed social comment and well presented!
The drums are sounding good and I liked the instrumentation, lots going on.
Cheers

Thanks Dick. I was working on this one, on and off, for months. I’m using a metronome now so my timing is better when I play the drums.
