Grape Jam, R8, Jam, Rock

Post by Beatnick » Sat Oct 27, 2018 2:29 am

Listen to Grape Jam

This started with me jamming over a simple drum beat and guitar sample I created on the R8. When I finished I had to experiment and learn a bit more about this thing (I've actually had it for a while, I just never got around to really playing with it). I created a bass sample and then created a backing sequence and added drum fills where I thought they were needed. I think it came out pretty good.

An interesting jam. Well recorded. I like that you provided screen shots of settings in the video. That was a very thoughtful act to perform. The bass and drum samples sounded really nice.

One complaint and it is likely the fault of YouTube. The soundtrack was fairly "hot". I had to crank the volume control all the way down from its normal of 50 (out of a possible 100) to about 15.

Thanks. I didn't notice it being too loud on my phone or laptop. Interesting. The drums are the samples built into the R8 and I used the preset patch called ClubBass for the bass sample I created and looped it's just a cheap guitar research bass I bought at Sam Ash years ago, I think guitar research was Sam Ashes own brand, but I don't know. As far as I know there's no where that has patches for the R8, that's why I put those settings in there.

Nicely put together video.

Like Jim, I thought it was a good touch to include the settings.

Nicely played swell!

Cheers
