Brian May Style Delay Jam, G3n, original, rock jam

Post by Beatnick » Thu Apr 04, 2019 1:44 pm

Not much to say about this one. I've been busy and haven't had much time to listen to anything or record. I did create a Brian May Delay patch on the G3n the other day and recorded this little jam this morning. I have the G3n running into the first channel on the R8 and recorded in mono (I'm not too worried about stereo right now). It was really just a quick demo of the patch, but I like it. A link to where the patch can be downloaded from is in the description to the video. Enjoy.

I know nothing about the mechanics of electric guitar playing other than I wish I could play like that. I was never a big Queen fan but I always did like Brian May's playing. I recently saw the Queen movie and that was good.

You're right, delay can get messy but you kept it pretty much together.

Seemed odd seeing Brighton Pier as it's about 1 mile south of me!

Cheers

Thanks.

Cracks, I wish I could play like Brian May too. I've studied a lot about him, but I know I'll never play like him. One thing that's really cool about Queen is there are 2 very unique and instantly recognizable sounds in there, Freddie's voice and Brian May's guitar.

Dick, I figured since the patch was based on the song Brighton Rock, the picture was appropriate. It's pretty easy to get lost in delay. I did pull myself back at a couple points just to let the delay finish because I heard going a bit out of control. It actually did get real messy a bit after the fade out, that's why I faded there πŸ˜….

You did a good job of keeping the delay straight in your mind. I enjoyed listening to your demo.

I was basically trying to mimic the the sound and style of the solo in the song Brighton Rock by Queen.

Cool. There's some really nice stuff going on - I think you develop that into something more.
