Hopelessly Devoted (New Song)

Post by Roy-Al » Sat Aug 10, 2019 4:15 pm

PSO4 (backing vocals), Dell Precision 690, Neewer NW700 mic, (lead vocals recorded direct to PC, Cakewalk by Bandlab, Bandlab Assistant for mastering.

I wrote the song "Hopelessly Devoted" on 4/28/19. The melody was too weak for my taste but I kept tinkering with it. On August 4th I was excited when I heard Periz's "Must Be Nice lol." In minutes the melody worked out. Thanks Periz, for the music, hope you like it. PS, my voice is raggedy and I'm bad at mixing. So, there's that. (Per Lungfruit, I tried this one with vox a bit higher in mix. I think).

Hopelessly Devoted

When you’re not here my skin creeps
like it don’t belong to me
When you’re not here
I toss and turn
can’t get no sleep
Seems there’s nothing I can do
totally hooked on you
I’m Hopelessly devoted to you

Sometimes I drink, it’s just not the same
So I chase after you
but believe me it’s no game
you’re like a rocket to my brain
that thrills me
and I know might kill me
before we are through
but I’m hopelessly devoted to you

Hopelessly devoted – to you
Hopelessly devoted – to you

Together riding high
with the sun at our side
we can paint the colors in the sky
Even when I sing the blues
It’s because I’m missing you
I’d do anything
for that feeling you bring
I’m hopelessly devoted to you

Hopelessly devoted – to you
Hopelessly devoted – to you

Yes you thrill me
Any day you might kill me
before we are through
but I’m hopelessly devoted to you

Hopelessly devoted – to you
Hopelessly devoted – to you
I’m - Hopelessly devoted – to you

Neat song Roy. I love your vocals, especially the layered ones at end. You have a retro-70's soul sytle that I've always liked. Good lyrics too. I'm starting to like techno music.

Good one.

I like how it's not a traditional melody and your vocals are a different melody. Interesting. The instruments sound good. I wish your vocals were a little higher in the mix tho. IMHO

It's always good to heara new one from you. The vocals at the end work really well. Is that a female vocal or is that you doing a high harmony? Whatever, it sounds great.

Nice choice of backing track as well.

Cheers

Thank you Glenn. I like loud backing tracks. They hide a multitude of sins not the least of which is my voice. I did however, trying lifting the lead some. Thanks for the advice.

Thank you DickL. What you hear are the voices in my head. They all have names and are an unruly bunch, especially the soprano, she's a real diva. They are known collectively as the Roy Alettes. Just joshing! It's all me.

Thanks Sean aka Cracks. I'm glad you like it. What's techno music? I don't much care for labels but if you think it fits, I'll take it.
