Hello everyone.
Thanks for all the kind comments about our song "Samba", especially about the vocals. Lee really did sing his lead vocal as a first take and the adlibs at the end were not rehearsed. My "control room" is in the basement under where the kitchen is upstairs. My wife happen to be in there while he was singing this song. I got a few questions like "what was Lee shouting about?" and "what kind of song is that?" after he left. Good times.
Tony, mics and preamps really do make a difference. I don't or would never claim to be a very good engineer, but better tools will make your life easier. Really.
As to the other songs:
"You Are"- I liked the sound of the double tracked vocals on the chorus. It added a nice touch to the overall vocal sound. It helped the tuning issues memtioned above.
"Without You"- Very nicely done. Impressed. I would have loved to hear some vocal harmonies on the chorus. That's just me though.
"Wait"-really liked the break where it went down to just bass and drums. Very "Dear Prudence" like, but I sure you know that.
