Open Mic Videos
Figured since I posted a few in another thread because Cracks wanted more.... I would start a thread here for us to post any videos.
Here's one from a recent set at an open mic. Planning on hitting a few more.
https://youtu.be/LTiYYs5ZIPs
I don't get much chance to write originals these days, or even record much, save for demos for a CD.

Pretty good, but you'd get bonus points if you could moon walk while playing Moondance.

Re: Open Mic Videos
Good one. You should sing some of the song though. You have a nice easy voice that goes good with the backing tracks and the sax.

Doing a mix of vocals and instrumentals to keep it varied.

Re: Open Mic Videos
This one is not me performing, but my 2nd delve into iMovie.
I've been doing open mic audio recordings for a few months (every other month about) at a local venue. The main audio was recorded with my Zoom H6, all DI/split before going to the board. What you hear in the video has some camera audio mixed in since I've decided that audio that's too clean for a live video seems just a little off.

Re: Open Mic Videos
Great original Ed. Nice video too. That setting is so Texas it almost looks fake. Nice!

Re: Open Mic Videos
Just for the record, I'm not Ed, whose song/performance is in the video. I just did the recording!
And, yes, the place where the open mic is held is pretty much all Texas, all the time. Stop in almost any Thursday night if you are in the area!

That pretty much describes the attitude of everyone in Texas all the way from Brownsville to Amarillo.still_fiddlin wrote: ↑Sat Jul 08, 2017 10:14 am... snip ... I was stationed just outside Lubbock while in the military. Only place I've ever been where it can rain mud, dust storms can be in the weather forecast and a preacher can get away with wearing twin six guns while preaching a sermon.
I completely understand why Mac Davis wrote "Texas In My Rear View Mirror".

Re: Open Mic Videos
Here's another video I did of Jordi Baizan back in April at the open mic I record at sometimes. This is the first time I did a video there - still in the "proof of concept" stage. He's got an EP out and some Nashville-style production on this song and some others if you are interested. (He's currently bailing water in his house in Houston so please save your snark for some other forum, thanks.)

How are you and your family doing still_fiddlin? I hope everyone is safe and dry. Everyone in my area has the plight of southeast Texas in our thoughts. Feeling bad for the west coast with all the heat and fire they are enduring too.

Re: Open Mic Videos
We are in good shape.
Lost power at the house for 4 days but no water inside on our street. My wife was in a hospital for 4 days/3 nights, effectively sleepless, on hurricane watch covering all imagineable jobs because people could not get to work, and the last night/day moving people up off the first floor. Spent the final hours helping evacuate everyone by boat (made the news). Her car, unfortunately, was a loss, but compared to thousands and thousands of others (like my friend Jordi), we got by with a hangnail (my working metaphor).
Thanks for asking.

Re: Open Mic Videos
Great news!
Your wife (and all the other workers that work in hospitals, nursing homes, hotels and other service industries) never receive the thanks they deserve. They are my inspiration everyday. But their light shines even brighter during times of dire emergency. I hope your wife has been able to get some rest.
Thanks for sharing your update with us. Continued good luck.

Re: Open Mic Videos
Back home after a rescheduled visit to PA to see sis and old friends and buy a car (Houston dealers have already got their 3rd set of teeth).
Here's a recording of a group (well, about half the group) that I recorded back on August 24th (the day before the rain started). I honestly don't remember which camera I used - have to go look at the project but it was on autofocus so got a little confused at times. Audio recorded with Zoom H6. Mixed in Logic Pro X, with a tiny, tiny bit of camera audio mixed in for the final video track.
